Well, 2012 is coming to a close. Can’t really say that I’ve missed it, although I haven’t really been one to linger long in the past. I’m one of those annoying optimist types, after all.
I have done several things this year that have made me feel proud of myself. I have found new, gainful employment (January) with a wonderful boss at a fantastic place to work. I have moved into my own place (June)–I love my parents, but um.. yeah. So glad to be out of the ol’ nest. I had the honor of watching and helping my two best friends marry (July), and soon I will help them welcome to the world their first child. (And of course, spoil the thing rotten. Oh yes, your Aunt Eris will be your favorite!)
I have completely fallen in love with superheroes–Marvel in particular. THANK YOU AVENGERS. My life will NEVER be the same.
I finished NaNoWriMo at plus 50,000–a first ever for me. That in itself is a hell of an accomplishment. And in doing this, I have half of a truly excellent novel.
And, last but not least, this year I have done something I’ve never really done before–I have put together my own writing group and contest: FanFicWriMo. To me, it was just this silly idea, but it’s really taken off the ground now. I have booked rooms in my own local area, with local writers pledging to participate. I’ve set up a chat room for it, and I’m currently working on possible prizes for a door raffle at the end of the month.
I have never done anything like this before. And really? I don’t think I’m doing too badly.
*knocks on wood*
Anyway, 2012. It’s been a good year. Here’s to another great twelve months! 2013, I look forward to meeting you.
See you on the other side, my friends!
