Bucket List

I told myself I was going to do a post analyzing the issues of consent in Teen Wolf today, but… that’s going to wait. Instead, here’s a little something that’s been stewing in my brainpan for awhile.

I think I’ve always had an idea of a bucket list. There are a lot of things I want to do–yes, before I die, but death doesn’t really have much to do with it. There’s just a list of things I’d like to do in my lifetime, to say that I’ve lived. That I’ve been there or I’ve done that or I saw so-and-so.

Anyway, today, I–for the first time–am going to actually list them out and see how much I’ve accomplished and how many I have left to do. I don’t even know if everything is accomplishable–or even, if in ten or twenty or thirty years I will even want to.

But here it is:

  • Visit California
  • Learn to surf
  • Eat at the Cheesecake Factory (Shut up, I’ve always wanted to go!) March 2014
  • Visit Japan June 2008
  • Visit New Orleans March 2010
  • Become fluent in at least ONE foreign language
  • Publish a book
  • Write a script for a television show pilot
  • Write a movie script
  • “Win” NaNoWriMo November 2012
  • See the QuikTrip people actually change the numbers on their signs (those people are like ninjas!)
  • Take a picture with a celebrity that I admire
  • Go to a midnight premiere of a movie The Hobbit: Part 1, December 2012
  • Attend Comic-con
  • Pet a fox
  • Get a tattoo
  • Act as the Priestess during a Mass June 2009
  • Participate in a Goetic working February 2014
  • Attend/participate in a Discordian ritual
  • Be in a wedding party July 2012
  • Get married (or at least experience the ceremony with someone 🙂 )
  • Buy a house
  • Visit Canada
  • Become a full-time writer. 🙂

The list is ever growing, but I’m making progress. What are some things you guys want to do someday?

  1. To be fair, a post on the consent issues in Teen Wolf wouldn’t be a post; it’d be a damn series. Hell, you could probably write 2000 words on Derek’s issues ALONE, and that’s not counting anything with Danny and Ethan and Lydia and Scott and Stiles and…

I’m going to shut up now, lest I start actively ranting about it.

One of the things I would like to do is visit all 50 states at least once. I think I’m about halfway there, but I would have to check.

And I am glad to have been there for three of your bucket list activities! 🙂

    1. All 50 states would be a great bucket list item! And shoot, I just thought of something the other day, and I forgot to write it down. Oh well. If it’s really important to me, I will remember what it was later.

🙂 And I like marking these off with friends. It makes it seem more real, you know? Like it actually happened and I didn’t just dream it up. 😀

Here’s to many more items being marked off with a good friend like you! 😀 Huzzah!

  2. Love this! I’ll trade you California for Japan. :p

I’m going to take M’s bucket list addition to another level. I want to stay at a B&B in all 50 states. That’s been on my list for awhile. So far I can only mark off Oklahoma and Arkansas in that category but… two states down! Maybe you and I can take a jaunt to Kansas or Missouri or something and spend a night in one. I think that would be a blast.

Other than Japan, I want to visit Haye-on-Wye in Wales during their book festival. I want to stand on the Great Wall of China, just once. I want to spend a night in an underwater hotel. I want to speak, read, and write Japanese fluently (or at least functionally close to it).

    Lots of things…

The only thing I can mark OFF my list, so far, is seeing one of my beloved Japanese bands play a live show. VAMPS in December was INCREDIBLE.
