Nano ’16 Progress Announcement

I think I’ve said it here before, but I’m pretty well just dedicated to doing NaNoWriMo every year. And this year’s project is going UNCOMMONLY WELL.

Like, so well I’m afraid I’m gonna jinx myself by the end of the month. D:

By last night’s tally, I’m at 5937 words already, and for those of you who don’t know the layout of the Nano challenge, that’s 937 words ABOVE yesterday’s goal. (Further breakdown: the challenge is to write a 50,000 word first draft of a novel in 30 days, which comes to about 1,667 words a day you need to write.) Yeah, it’s only been three days but so far I’m averaging a little shy of 2000 words a day. And so far all of those days have been work days, which means I actually have LESS time to write. >.>

It’s good though. This novel is probably going to shape up to be around 65,000 words–at least for it’s rough draft. I’ve got a pretty clear picture of the… flow of it. If not necessarily the outline. (Although, I do have probably more of an outline for it than I did for my previous nano projects. That’s probably why I’m doing so well on it. >.> <.< >.>) For once I am ACTUALLY confident and not just pretending to be that I can finish the entire first draft of this thing this month. I’m already mostly on track for 60k by the end of November. Another 5,000 probably isn’t going to kill me–especially if it’s to actually get to the part where I can write “THE END” at the bottom of the page.

But yeah. Things are going actually pretty well this year. 🙂

NaNoWriMo 2013 Update

We are more than a week into this year’s NaNoWriMo, and I am already behind. I had started out strong, gaining 6,000 by day three… then… Life happened. Or, to be more precise, I’m working two jobs (for a combined total of 38-40 hours a week) and studying for the Japanese Language Fluency Test that’s taking place in December, ALL ON TOP OF NANO.

So yes. I am exhausted. I am also behind in my word count.

But not that far behind. If I push myself, I can probably even make it up today. I’m sitting about about 10,000 (a little less, by last check), and as NaNo’s nifty word counter tells us, I should be at 15,000. So, 5k in one day? I should be able to do that. I might even be able to pull of 6,000, especially considering I have the day off, and no other plans besides catching up on laundry.

Anyway, how are your novels doing? Life getting in your way yet?

The Post of Exclamation Points

Well, NaNoWriMo is over.

Most of you are thankful that December is here, ready for the slow and steady plod through editing and second drafting (and third and fourth and fifth) until it’s time start it all over again in November 2013.

Others are apparently crazy nuts like me.

A moment of digression, if you will. As you can see, I am a fanfic writer. Yes, it’s mostly Supernatural and Okage: Shadow King fiction, but that will soon change. (Oh boy, will that change). And one of the things I thought to myself as I prepared for NaNo this year was “Damn, I’d really like to do a NaNoWriMo for only fanfics. It’d be like month-long convention of awesomeness!” I considered writing a fanfic for the November’s NaNoWriMo, but alas, I had a great idea for an original work that was beating on the inside of my skull to get out first. But I didn’t give up the idea…

Anyway, even though November is only days behind us (and Christmas looming), I feel the need to jump into the writing frenzy once more. I also want to drag as many of you out there with me.

So, a proposal for the fanfic writers out there: I present to you…

FANFICWRIMO!

Starting in January (that’s right, JANUARY 2013), join me in 50,000 words in 30 (*cough-one-cough*) days! Choose your fandom! Write like the wind! Churn out those fanfictions like never before! Length doesn’t matter, only total word count contributed by the end of the month!

Got an epic romance for your OTP just burning to get out? WRITE IT IN JANUARY!

Have a series of drabble length character studies for your favorite television show? WRITE THEM IN JANUARY!

Did you hate the end of a movie and you just KNOW you can do better? WRITE IT IN JANUARY!

Join me, writers! Join me in the epic craziness that is fandom! Join me in FanFicWriMo!

I hope to see you all there!

PS: Details on a public chat room/forums are coming up… as soon as I figure them out. -E

The End of NaNo.

Well folks. I survived.

I came in at midnight on November 30th at 50,237 words on my novel. (Okay, that’s a lie. I reached that number around 10:15pm, which then I immediately began emitting high pitched noises and bouncing around the room like the small child I am. Which I continued to do until about midnight. I’m sure my friends hate me).

But I did it! 50,000 words in 30 days!

I am, however, by no means finished with the novel. I’m only about half of the way through. (I did finish part one, though). And let me just say, as much fun as it was, I am utterly disappointed… disappointed that my two main characters STILL HAVE NOT KISSED *random noises of frustration*. (It’s a ROMANCE novel. C’mon people! Get with the romance already!!)

Anyway, now that it has been a few days, I am ready to continue. I have the first chapter printed and ready to edit. The first part (the part I managed to finish anyway) is a bit rough, but manageable. Nearly all the scenes are in the right order, and I don’t have much to add. So, soon I will have a decent excerpt to post on here to show you guys just what I’ve been doing for the last month.

Onward and forward, my friends!

It’s Been A While…

Hello Readers!

November is almost over. At last check of my word count, I was at 47,002 words on my project. 🙂 Which, if I’m not mistaken, puts me on target for last night’s goal. Yay!

So, 2,998 more words to go. I sooo got this.

And when I’m finished (with this part anyway *coughcough*), I will be cleaning it up. Because I promised someone I would give it to them for Christmas. And when I do get it in as clean and polished as I can in such a short amount of time, I WILL be posting excerpts of it here for all of you lovely people to see. And ogle. And probably poke fun at.

I’ve been told that it’s very entertaining, anyway. I choose to take that as a compliment.

Anyway, I’m off to battle those last paltry amount of words into submission! Ciao!
